Focus on the Solution not the Problem

20160801_140924_wm_wm_wm

It seems to me that more effort is put into focusing on the problem these days and not enough effort into the solution.

Couples, friends and family argue over what happened instead of discussing how they are going to overcome it.  So much energy is wasted on anger.  It doesn’t get us anywhere and anger leads us to say and do things that add to the situation.

Whenever I get in a situation that can turn into an argument, I always ask myself,  “am I focusing on the solution?”  It is good to know the root of the problem, but to move forward the focus has to lye in solution.

May your week be filled with solutions.

#Quote of the Week

“What could I have said, or done differently that would have produced a different outcome?” -Author Unknown

Have you ever walked away from a discussion that turned into an argument? Have you ever been in a situation that yielded less than a solution and thought to yourself, “well that didn’t go well.”   As managers, owners and come away from a situation, and am less than happy with the outcome, I try to take a step back and ask myself that question.

Even if you are not directly responsible for the outcome, your insight can play a huge part as a mediator to guide and inspire.

Happy Monday!

#Branch off and Smile!

I love to Smile!  That is just me.  Not only do I like to smile, I like to see others smile.  When hiking and spending time outdoors I sometimes come across Nature smiling, I like to think its because I left my mark.

#Sugar Shocker-How much sugar is in that?

My son came over the other day with one of his favorite soft drinks.  (Jolly Rancher soda)  I was curious so, I picked up the bottle to review the sugar content.

  • 25g sugar-per serving
  • 2.5 servings
  • 62.5g sugar-total intake

My reaction:  Oh My Goooooodness! Are you kidding me?

How does 62.5 grams of sugar equate into teaspoons?  I did some research online and found this equation:

  • One teaspoon of granulated sugar equals 4 grams of sugar.
  • 62.5 grams of sugar = 15.62 teaspoons of sugar.  Wow! in one bottle of soda
  • Sugar Shockers click here to read “Sugar Shockers: Foods surprisingly high in sugar” from WebMD archive.

Names for added sugars on labels include:

  • Brown sugar
  • Corn sweetener
  • Corn syrup
  • Fruit juice concentrates
  • High-fructose corn syrup
  • Honey
  • Invert sugar
  • Malt sugar
  • Molasses
  • Raw sugar
  • Sugar
  • Sugar molecules ending in “ose” (dextrose, fructose, glucose, lactose, maltose, sucrose)
  • Syrup

Pay attention to sugar content.  Do some research, look at the rapidly increasing diabetes statistics and how it is affecting the youth and their health.  Don’t just assume that it is okay to consume because the packaging contains misleading information.

#Quote-Change

“The President will not change the world, it is up to us, the people, to change the world.  We need to empty our hearts and fill them with the love of Jesus”-Deacon Uriel Durr

Deacon Durr asked us to spread a message yesterday during Mass.  He asked us to tell people that God is real.  In order to overcome the struggles of today with crime and hatred we must empty our hearts of the anger and prejudice and replace it with the love of Jesus.  This is how we can change the world!

Thank you Deacon Durr for your love, kindness and passion for the Lord. You have been one of the most influential, Catholic leaders that has ever touched my life.  :>)

#Quote-Attitude

“Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude.”-Colin Powell

Attitude is everything. A good attitude not only lifts you up but, it lifts your teams up as well. A bad attitude pulls you down and guess what? It also pulls your team down.

Happy Monday!
